St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
V. Our holy father St. Norbert persevered to the end,
R. And being saved, he received his heavenly crown.
V. Be faithful unto death,
R. And I will give you the crown of life.
Let us pray:
O God, the strength of those who hope in You,
Who guided St. Norbert unharmed
through the various misfortunes of this world
and the insults of his enemies, grant, we beseech You,
the gift of perseverance, that, acting manfully
and resolutely, we may merit to attain eternal rewards.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Glorious Mother of God, Virgin of Guadalupe, with both my bodily eyes and the eyes of faith
I behold your precious image, and I repeat back to you boldly your very words to your servant
St. Juan Diego: “Are you not my Mother? Am I not under your shadow and protection?”
You are the Mother of Jesus, Who said, “whatsoever you do to the least of My brethren, you have done it to Me.”
You cannot refuse to pour out your love on me who am truly the least, as you do on Him, so grant my request as is best for me. You cannot refuse since I offer you the favor of doing Him good by helping me, O Mary, sweet Mother, almighty by love!
Amen.
Praying for the dead is an important work of mercy, and a meaningful reminder of own mortality. In this Novena, Fr. Victor guides us through short, thoughtful reflections on our relationship (and obligation!) to the dead.
