Life at St. Michael's Abbey is deeply communal, owing in no small part to its Augustinian spirituality. (Norbertines, like many religious orders, follow the rule of St. Augustine.) But this spirituality has much to offer those outside the monastery walls, too! Indeed, the Augustinian emphasis on unity, communion, and fraternal life offer a particularly beautiful alternative to our increasingly fragmented culture.
To help us learn more about this ancient and holy charism, Fr. Ambrose traveled to Rome, where he met with Fr. Gabriele Pedicino, Prior of the Italian Augustinian Province. Fr. Gabriele offered great insight into the history, spirituality, and beauty of the Augustinian tradition. Drawing from his own experience and vocation, as well as from the works of our Holy Father Augustine, Fr. Gabriele emphasized the importance of silence and prayer, and offered some suggestion on how the Augustinian Rule can help transform families and parishes in love for Christ and for each other.
