On this fifth day of our Michaelmas novena, we pray for mothers.

Mothers are entrusted with a unique and sacred participation in the mystery of life. Much of a mother's work remains hidden from the world, yet its fruits endure in the family, in the Church, and across generations. In their prayer, sacrifice, and steadfast example, they help lead their children toward God.

Let us therefore commend all mothers to the protection of Saint Michael and the holy angels, asking that they may be defended from every evil, and sustained in the holy duties entrusted to them.
