On this second day of our Novena to St. Michael, we pray in a special way for the bishops of the Church, successors of the Apostles and shepherds of Christ’s flock.

In an eminent way and visible way, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, every bishop acts in the person of Jesus Christ. The bishops sustain the work that Christ Himself is enacting in the Church through them as Teacher, Shepherd, and High Priest.

As they fulfill their lofty ministry, the bishops face many spiritual dangers from the diabolical forces who work against them. We ask St. Michael to protect them from error, fear, compromise, and discouragement, and to obtain for them wisdom, courage, and pastoral charity as they teach, sanctify, and govern the faithful Christ has entrusted to their care.

As Michaelmas approaches, please join us in entrusting the bishops of the Church to the protection of St. Michael the Archangel.
