A Blessed Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The abbey has always celebrated ordinations in June, the month of the Sacred Heart. These joyful moments give us a good occasion to reflect on the beauty and mystery of the sacred priesthood.
Two major parts of our lives as Canons Regular are our priestly formation and our apostolate. So when His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke recently visited the abbey, we seized the opportunity to hear his thoughts on the priesthood, just in time for ordinations! In this uniquely intimate setting, the perspective of His Eminence’s brilliant mind and exemplary priesthood is a call to those men considering conforming their hearts to Christ's as priests.
In this short interview--the first of four in a new series--His Eminence talks about the meaning of the sacred priesthood. Join us as we delve into the role of a shepherd, the love of the Savior to which the priesthood bears witness, and the ultimate value of the sacraments and the Holy Mass. His Eminence also talks about the moving story of his own calling to the priesthood, the importance of holy priests in the world today, and how other young men discerning the priesthood might rise up to meet this Divine call!
