Today, we look around the world and see sorrow. We take in all the suffering, both in society around us and in our own communities. We are honest with ourselves and recognize the great conflict in our interior lives. And, against all this, we ask confidently for peace. My friends, peace is not the absence of struggle. It is the presence of God.

This peace, this comfort drove St. Michael into battle with such confidence. It can guide us, too.
