Catholic social thought begins with the family. This is why, claims Fr. Hugh, that education must come from (and support the efforts of) the family. In fact, Catholic families must be instrumental in the restoration of Catholic education--and all of Catholic culture, for that matter! This isn't to say that families are on their own. Indeed, as the foundations of society, families in parishes and municipal communities can work together to teach their children, and priests and religious have great responsibility in this regard. But any effort in education must serve to support the parents' efforts to form their children.

In this video, the second in our four-part series on the renewal of Catholic education, Fr. Ambrose and Fr. Hugh look at what families must consider when educating their children. They also highlight just how instrumental and foundational holy Catholic families are to all of Christian society, and explore a few practical actions Catholic parents might consider as they work, according to their own vocations and with the rest of the Church, to give glory to God.

This is the second part of a four-part series on the renewal of Catholic education. To see the rest of the episodes, and to learn more about The Evermode Institute, an educational initiative by the Norbertines of St. Michael's Abbey, please follow this link.
