Chapter Nine, Part One
The throne of Germania is vacant with the passing of Henry V. The great and mighty bishops and prince electors gather to decide who will ascend to power. This new emperor will oversee the eastward expansion of the empire and, with it, the expansion of Christendom into half-pagan lands. And this expansion will need a holy man to guide it.
Providence again directs a reluctant Norbert into the breach.
